iCal Alerts to Cell Phone

Here's a neat trick I learned a while back to get iCal to send you an alert to your cell phone. As long as your computer is on you can get a reminder for that dentist appointment or to input your CBA data. Here's how:

Open Address Book and find your "card". Edit your card and in one of the email sections put the email address of your cell phone. If you can receive text messages then your phone has an email address. Here is a list of popular carriers and the associated email addresses. Mine is 509264xxxx@vtext.com.

Next open iCal and create an event. In the 'Alarm' section choose 'Email' and then choose your phone's email address from the drop-down list. Set the date and time correctly and when the alert gets sent out you'll get a text on your phone with all the details.
