Here's a cool (free...yay!) tool I learned about today called Paper Rater. What it does is it allows you to cut and paste the contents of something you've written. It scans your writing and looks for spelling errors, grammar abnormalities, plagiarism, and a variety of other things to help your writing. If you're above 8th grade it will also give you a grade for your writing. I think it would be a great tool for kids to use after they're finished writing their drafts and they think things are complete. I think it's well worth the effort to show kids how to use it.
