Online Assessment Tools

I seem to be in a good rut; the rut of writing about easy online assessment tools. There are starting to be many, many different ways of gathering data from kids and a lot of them are multi-platform. This is great for schools that participate in a Bring Your Own Technology model because you might have an Android phone, iPhone, laptop, iPod, iPad, smartphone, etc. I recently wrote about Kahoot!and QuizBean, both do assessment in similar but slightly different ways. The tool I discovered today, thanks to FreeTechforTeachers is called Quiz Socket.

Basically, it's a platform that allows students to do simple multiple choice responses and you see the data in real-time. The teacher has the questions ready and the students enter a unique code for the quiz. They only see an A, B, C, or D and the teachers sees the results (and chooses whether or not to display them in real-time). If you're looking for a quick way to assess kids and get a feel for the whole class this is a great tool. Plug into the socket!
