More Keyboard Shortcuts

Here are some cool things you can do with your Mac (some gleaned from SilverMac.com others from MacRumors.com).

Dictionary: Besides using the Spotlight to look up words you can also use a quick keyboard shortcut to get a Dictionary, Thesaurus, and Wikipedia reference. Simply move your mouse over a word and press Control + Command + D and a little box will open up that contains all three. This is a great tip to show kids who are struggling with the meaning of words while reading online. Note: This will only work on apps that are native to Mac.

Copying Text: If you want to copy a piece of text from a webpage just highlight it and drag it wherever you want to (Desktop, email, Word/Pages document, etc.)

Creating Stickies: I've never used Stickies but some people love them. Here is a quick way to make stickies out of text. Highlight the text you want and press Shift + Command + Y. Sticky stuck.

Deleting Text: Hold down Function (fn) and press Delete and it deletes text to the right of the cursor. Hold down Option and press Delete and it will delete the entire word.
